Spring wildflowers are here! Join science illustrator Meegan Painter of Seven Ravens Studio for a guided field illustration experience in Mima Meadow where we will observe some of our County’s most amazing native wildflowers. We’ll learn about flower anatomy and practice field sketching and painting techniques while learning to identify some of our local grassland flowers. Basic materials will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring their favorite nature journaling and field sketching tools, such as a journal, watercolor palette, pencils, pens, hand lenses, etc.
This program is in support of the new exhibit The Art of Nature.

About the Workshop Leader
With formal training in a wide variety of media, Meegan’s current work focuses primarily on honoring the fine details of the world and depicting the relationships between organisms in a wide variety of ecosystems. Her great passion is bringing people back to connection with the natural world through artistic experiences. She also volunteers for Resource Management at Pinnacles National Park, where she continues her training as an amateur naturalist. Meegan spends most of her free time exploring the vast collection of ecosystems we call California.

- NOTE: In order to access Mima Meadow, you must climb a short 2-step ladder.
- Be prepared to walk on uneven terrain and for up to a few miles.
- Wear layers and be prepared to be out in the sun for long stretches of time.
- Leave your pets at home. Trained service animals are allowed.
- There are no restrooms available at this location.
- We will provide a variety of resources for illustration, but feel free to bring along your favorite materials.
- Youth under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Registration fees apply to all ages.
