6/10 Rockin’ Pop-Up: Geology ID Day at the Museum

Grab your favorite rocks and swing by the Museum for the return of our popular Rockin’ Pop-Up! Gavin and Jessica from UC Santa Cruz’s Earth and Planetary Sciences Department will be in the Museum’s galleries READY TO TALK ROCKS.

FAQ

What types of rocks can I bring?

Rocks, fossils, and minerals are all welcome! Gavin and Jessica are experts in geochemistry, but love all types of rocks.

How many rocks can I bring?

Feel free to bring as many samples of you like, but depending on the crowd, we may implement a 3-rock maximum for identification.

Will there be a presentation?

This is a drop-in day, so Gavin and Jessica will be present and able to talk with folks as they arrive. There will be no formal presentation, so drop-by anytime between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Is there a fee?

The Rockin’ Pop-Up will take place inside the Museum and is free with admission. June 10 is also the first day of our new exhibit The Inner Lives of Shells.
